Fra at være blevet markedsført som én af launch-titlerne til PlayStation 4, sammen med Knack og Killzone: Shadow Fall, og i øvrigt én af de første retail-spil på PlayStation+, så er DriveClub nu blevet et større mysterium.
Sonys Scott Rohde fortæller i et interview med IGN, at der er god grund til, at DriveClub endnu ikke er at finde i butikkerne:
What I will say is that it all comes back to that fundamental principle, and thats that we want to build great games. And we really dont want to release a game before its ready. And sometimes, this happens in the normal course of business, where we think were on track to deliver what we think is going to be a great game, and when we get closer, we realize that wed be doing everyone a disservice if we shipped it before it was ready.
So, I think that at PlayStation, perhaps more than at other places, were willing to kinda eat that, and go back to the drawing board and make sure the game is great before we ship it. And thats whats going on right now with that game.
Altså røg DriveClub tilbage på tegnebrættet for at sikre, at kvaliteten lever op til den store hype, der har været omkring spillet.
Rohde ville i øvrigt ikke forholde sig til en udgivelsesdato, men Sonys PR-folk kunne dog fortælle, at der ville komme en række detaljer meget snart.
