Housemarque har altid været tæt knyttet til PlayStation og har stået bag spil som Super Stardust Ultra, Dead Nation, Alienation, Resogun, Nex Machina, Matterfall og senest Returnal, som er ude eksklusivt til PlayStation 5.
PlayStation har i dag meddelt, at den finske udvikler er blevet opkøbt og nu er blevet en del af PlayStation Studios, der i forvejen tæller Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, Sucker Punch og Guerrilla Games.
Ilari Kuittinen, Co-founder og Managing Director hos Housemarque siger:

This gives our studio a clear future and a stable opportunity to continue delivering on gameplay centric approaches, while still experimenting with new methods of narrative delivery and pushing the boundaries of this modern artform. Locally here in Helsinki, this also means that we will officially expand the PlayStation family to a growing industry hub and secure the legacy of the oldest game studio in Finland.
Ilari Kuittinen understreger, at Housemarque stadig vil forfølge deres vision om at skabe knivskarpt gameplay og hele tiden udforske nye kombinationer for at skabe de bedste spil. Dette får Housemarque nu ro til at gøre også i fremtiden, med Sonys mange udviklerhuse i ryggen, siger Ilari Kuittinen.
